OBITUARIES
David Hanson
David was the
son in law of Michael & Eileen Delany.
Mike had been a brancardier for many years until his death two years
ago. Eileen came as a nurse and she
also came on the September pilgrimage last year and wrote an article in the
2009 magazine. David had been ill for a few years and he leaves a
wife and four young children. He
was very much involved in his parish
and was a governor at the parish primary school. I went to his funeral and the church was
packed with children and parishioners, standing room only. We heard of his death while we were traveling on the coach to Dover
for the Pentecost pilgrimage so we were able to offer the first Mass in
Banneux for him that evening.
Mary Antony
I knew that Mary
was in hospital and on Sunday evening
9th August, I got a call from Charlie to say Mary was quite ill
and wanted to see me. Although I was
busy getting ready for the August pilgrimage which was on the following
Thursday 13th I told him I would go the next day. On the Monday morning John and I went to Northwick
Park hospital to see Mary and found her in a side room, asleep and looking
very ill. Charlie woke her to tell her we were there and that
we had some Banneux water for her, her face lit up and Charlie gave her a
drink on a spoon (he later told me this was the first drink she had taken in
days, until then she had just had her lips wetted with some cotton wool
dipped in water). A neighbor was
visiting and Mary sat up and told him all about Banneux, a nurse came in and
could not believe she was sitting up and talking. I was so glad I had gone to see her. Mary died the next day and Charlie said she told
him, “This is the Day I’m so happy”, she died a little later. I asked Charlie if he could delay the
funeral until I returned from Banneux, he said he would arrange it for the
Friday after we returned so all my family, were able to attend.
David Cotterell Gusty rang me
just a few days before Christmas to say that David had died during the night. David came to Banneux with us after Gusty had already been several
times. David was not a catholic but
had always driven Gusty to Mass every Sunday. After a couple of visits to Banneux and joining us on all our
activities in this country David was received into the church and joined
several organisations in his Parish. For several years David was our treasurer and was a great help to us. I do hope we will see Gusty again soon in Westminster and on our
pilgrimages. Teresa
Newbolt Over the years Teresa was a great help to me,
she would help me at all the Banneux coffee mornings we had in Wealdstone and
with other fund raising events. Teresa came with us to Banneux every August
for about ten years, several years ago she moved out of Wealdstone to be near
her daughter and I did not hear of her death until about six weeks after she
died so I could not add her to the list in the 2010 magazine but I’m sure you
will all pray for her. May
they all rest in peace Maria Hare
