Frank McGee
Frank and his wife Mary went to
Banneux quite a few times travelling with the Stevenage group, they both
also went quite often to the two fund raising garden parties they have in
Stevenage.
Maria Joanes
Maria died on 22nd September,
Maria had been going to Banneux for 12/14 years always
on the August Pilgrimage staying in the hotel she was always lively and made
people laugh a lot.
Here is part of the eulogy, written by her daughter, started off by
saying: "Her passion for life in the last 14 years, after my eldest son Paul
was born, was her pilgrim trips to Banneux in Belgium, whereupon she made
many friends through prayer. She became ill in 2009 and was told by her
doctor not to travel to Belgium, this broke my mums heart".
I went to Maria's funeral at St Joseph' s, Wealdstone, the church
was packed with her family and friends, on the front page of her "Order of
Mass" was a photo of Maria and a picture of Our Lady of Banneux.
Olga Anderson
Olga
died just before Christmas, she could not go to Banneux in August because
she was not well so we missed picking her up on the A2 motorway, she lived
in Essex so it was easier to go to the A2.
I have been to several funerals in her parish in the past and I
said I would go to Olga's, but she was being buried on the day the snow came
down in December and the weather forecast said the roads were blocked with
the snow, so I was sorry 1 could not make it but I had her in my thoughts.
John Healy
John was in St Bernard's parish in Northolt and though he never
went to Banneux he was very supportive in all our fund raising. He always
brought a car full of people to all our dances in Wembley and would buy £10
worth of raffle tickets, he couldn't go to our last dance before Christmas
because he had broken his arm but he still bought a £4-50 ticket for £10.
John did a lot work in his parish which showed with a packed church
and many past priests at his funeral, and I know he will be missed there as
we will miss him for all his help to us.
Eileen Jordan
Eileen first went to Banneux more than ten years ago and has been with us
every year since then. Last year
Steven came with her for the first time and he wrote for our magazine what a
wonderful experience he had while there.
Eileen died on Thursday 8th April just a couple of weeks after
I had visited her in St Vincent’s Nursing Home, we will miss her not only in
Banneux but at all our other functions we have in this country.
May they all rest in peace
Maria Hare
